Some really nice light-air aerobatics by Russ, flying his F3J Pike Superior. The first part is in an early morning breeze at Eagle Butte (brrrrr!), and the second part is in very light slermal lift on an undisclosed island somewhere off the coast of British Columbia. Well I know it's 2008 but hey, editing the footage takes awhile. Here's a collection of footage from the past year showing some of the people and the flying that made 2007 a blast down at the Dallas Road slope. From the better late than never department... Went down to Cape Blanco with Sam and Russ for 3 days of sloping back in June and wouldn't you know it the wind picks those three days to stop blowing. However, it did end up being absolutely perfect weather in a beautiful part of the world that is normally socked in with fog at that time of year. Recently I got a neat little mini camera/video recorder. It's about the size of your index finger and weighs only 20 grams, yet can record about 5 minutes of decent-quality 640x480 30fps video. I made a little mount to stick it in the front of my Micro Flash hotliner and headed down to the slope... The video is about a 35 MB download, so please right-click and "Save As..."

Here's a nice little video of Russ' T-Rex heli flying at sunset in a little graveyard right on the beach in Victoria. Pretty decent quality considering it was shot with the movie mode of a Sony DSC-N1 pocket digital camera. Angus did all the camera work and Russ did the editing! What happens when you take a slope glider pilot and give him a helicopter? He takes it to the slope, of course. Some pretty cool flying in this one - not your usual 3D heli flying but "big air" maneuvers set against a beautiful backdrop off Dallas Road in Victoria, BC. This was filmed sometime around March of 2006 and the pilot is Russell Bowman. The video is about a 41 MB download, so please right-click and "Save As..."

Reflex XTR Model - Logo 10 Extreme 3D

This is a model (here) for Reflex XTR, made using the RMK model editor that comes with Reflex. The physics are a fairly accurate representation of how the real model flies (according to the pilot). A video of the real model can be found here.

This is the very first XeroG Raptor prototype, filmed in January of 2006 at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC. You may recognize the castle in the background from recent movies - it was used as "Dr. Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Children" in all 3 X-Men movies. The pilot is Russell Bowman. This is the latest incarnation of the Logo 10 Carbon Extreme. It uses the latest Logo 10 2005 3D kit (with the LLC head), has a stretched boom, 550 Rotortech blades and runs on 8s instead of the usual 6. It's more of a Logo 12 than a 10.
